Wordless Weekend #29 - Japan Voyeur Part 2

C took the majority of these photos, glimpses into everyday life in Japan. Nobody knew we were watching them, aside from the top image. It's fascinating to watch people going about their daily business. This is my favourite image, some school boys on a trip to Miyajima, so carefree and un-self-consciously happy.
This was atop the ruins of a castle, the boys playing make-believe with stick-swords, defending the fort.
These poor homeless men, begging is seen as profoundly shameful, so they do not ever ask people for help. C would seek them out to give them money for food (or food if we had some handy). They took pride in their makeshift homes, sweeping their surroundings to keep it neat and tidy. Many had pet cats.
A cleansing ceremony (C had permission to photograph from her husband)

Found #65

This patch from Poison Apple Printshop is great. I love looking at the moon, I just find it so beautiful.

I found these bone hair pins on Mo's blog, and I just had to steal them. Well, not steal them, that would be rude. But I had to share. Thanks for finding the bone pins, Mo!

I'm missing Japan a lot, so I'm pretty happy when I see something nice that reminds me of my time there. This gorgeous photo series by Miyoko Ihara covers her grandmother, Misao and her relationship with her strange-eyed cat (who was adopted as a stray), Fukumaru. The companionship of an animal is so special.

Have you seen this typography project? They seem to be all the rage with the kids these days ;) This one is an interesting project that sources idioms from various locales, and has a little story behind the word. I've known a few "doless"-es(?) in my time.

I really like look of Dear Creatures dresses. One day I will try one out... I love the hint of collar details on this one.

Diana from Our City Lights is remembering her 'favourited' blog posts from Google Reader by creating a pinterest board dedicated to her favourite posts over the years so they won't be lost when google closes the reader down on Sunday. It's a nice idea if you've been using Google Reader over the years :)

So, I mentioned that it's been raining a lot here. For over a week now, at least. This weekend shows no change in sight, so it looks like more inside time for us. Let me say, Nico doesn't mind the extra cuddle time :)

What I Wore - Rainy Day in the Library

In Australia, we normally have dry winters and rainy summers. Generally. Though that weather, she is unpredictable. It seems to have been raining for weeks now. It can't be that long, but Maggie is beside herself with wanting to go to 'work' (that's where she sits on the grass and chatters to the birds). And I'm dying to get outside and see some sunshine! With the cold, the drizzle and the general tone of this place (Sydney) right now, I'm about ready for a few duvet days ;)
The thing is, I have a lot of photographs to take right now. I've got a few blog posts planned, and outfit posts to get done, and the light is not there. So I'm in a little frustrated tizz, trying to get things done, but having it not really working. Which leads me to today's location, the Library. It's difficult to do a guerrilla style photoshoot in a library. That shutter noise is LOUD! Anyway. Really, no problems. I hope you enjoy my fluorescent lit outfit shots.
You can see in the above image, my lovely photographer :) And rain affected frizz. One more thing, the growing fringe out thing is hard! I'm at the most awkward point now and very tempted to cut it back in. Not sure what one is supposed to do with hair when a fringe isn't in action anymore.

This is all tongue in cheek, I know sarcasm is sometimes lost in the written word. I'm loving the weather, hating feeling unproductive on the photography front :)
