Found #81

I know for most of my readers it is winter, so even though these beautiful macramé plant hangers look really summery, I think they are probably perfect for cheering up your interior a little bit and protecting you plants from the frost!

I love the layers of this Skin and Bones Studded Cuff set from Evidence Jewelry at the Moorea Seal Store. It reminds me of rib bones and match sticks at the same time!

Isabel Knowles, she of Fox Dress fame, has just released a new collection named Paper Moon. In various hues of midnight, the collection describes the whimsy and magic od a mysterious night. The Moonset dress is my favourite.

Frankie Magazine had a giveaway of these shoes from across the sea in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago. I don't think I won (boo!) but aren't they lovely? You can choose little details like the sole height and colour, and there are lots of shoe 'tops' to mix and match too!

I just finished reading Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. Has anyone else checked it out yet? When Lost At E-Minor posted some pictures of writers at work, I was pretty chuffed to see this one of Steven King, with his pet corgi! I suppose after Cujo he steered away from large dogs? Side note: when we got lost in Bangor, Maine, we happened upon Mr King's house! It is quite impressive :) We didn't pop in for tea. Maybe next time.

If you're not familiar with Pip Lincolne, head over to Meet Me At Mikes right away!! This fellow Aussie blogger has a fun-filled crafty blog with tonnes of DIY projects, creative inspiration and colour galore :) She has just released Issue 3 of Good Stuff, an annual gift guide on steroids. It's full of recipes, DIYs and gift ideas, and the majority of products inside are locally sourced (in Australia) If you're after a unique gift, recipe ideas or some creative inspiration, check it out now.

Are you guys up to anything fun this weekend? Or did you spend all of your money on the Black Friday sales? It's kind of interesting that you have the sales in the USA after Thanksgiving, before Christmas. In Australia our huge sales are the day after Christmas. You can see the problem there, right? When I used to work in retail, it was so stressful, especially since I had two jobs at one point, as a barista (hello sleep-deprived, angry shoppers) and a bra-fitter. I'm not sure about the US sales, but in Australia, the things people go to the sales for is towels, sheets and underwear. I vividly remember pulling a 10 hour shift and staring at a mangled pile of discarded bras that was taller than me at the end of it. Not cool. My thoughts are with all of the retail staff. Chin up!

If you have a moment, check out the November Giveaway, there's 4 prizes for one lucky winner including super adorable jewellery, illustrations, ad space and a book! Just 2 days left to enter.

What I Wore - Sweet Tooth!

It's the tail end of the year, which, if it means anything, it's cake time! haha. When Steff from Asockalypse (great name, huh?!) contacted me to see if I'd like to wear some socks from their store, I definitely couldn't go past these cupcake socks! These ladies are based in New Zealand and have a great range of colourful socks, for ladies and men. I love the new striped over-the-knee socks and also, the cat socks are so adorable! (since it gets damn cold in NZ, they have some nice long socks and tights for my wintery northern friends, too)

I wonder if everyone has a pre-disposition to having a 'sweet tooth' or to favor savoury? Both of my parents are sweet toothed, so I've been lumped with one too. That said, I rarely indulge, I definitely have a 'less is more' mentality when it come to treats. Sometimes it's tough, I am half German, and sharing genetic heritage with Augustus Gloop makes it kinda tempting to go for a dip in a chocolate river ;) But the cupcake socks, they're making me think of sweet delights.
On an unrelated note, as I was foraging for pretty shells and polished glass, I found the shell above and it brought back memories of my childhood, whenever I found these particular shells, I'd pretend they were false fingernails.
Back to the outfit - I also have a super special discount at Asockalypse just for Kitty & Buck readers! Enter KITTYANDBUCK at the checkout for 10% off your order. These would make great stocking stuffers, or better yet, make them the stockings and fill them with loot!

Advertising Overhaul and December Discount

Things have changed around here, for the better! I'm always looking at ways to make the experience of advertising on Kitty & Buck enjoyable and of course, beneficial for blogs and shops alike. I've come up with a new plan for 2014 that I think you'll love. I'm focussing on the best way to promote you.

Why do you advertise?
For blog owners //  You want people to visit, read and hopefully follow your blog (and other social media too), right?
For shop owners // You want to promote your store to the right people, who are interested in your products and love your business ethics. You want to spread the word about your awesome shop!
Some people ❤// Just want to support a blog they love (and maybe get some clicks in the process)

I've tailored my advertising to fit these needs a little better. The biggest change is with giveaways. If you are a business and you'd like to promote your products through a giveaway, I have a new option where you can purchase a solo giveaway post. These posts are strictly limited to two posts per month (more info in the ad shop).

Once a month, I will hold a 'sponsored' giveaway, where I will choose an awesome prize valued at approximately $50. I will purchase the prize with the money earned from advertising, and I'll be responsible for shipping it to the winner. XL and Large advertisers will be featured in the giveaway post as 'sponsors' of the giveaway and will be included in the bonus entries. To cover the cost, I have increased the ad prices of Large and XL ads by $5. If you'd prefer not to sponsor the giveaway, there is an 'opt-out' code which will give you a $5 discount on ad space and remove you from the giveaway post.

There will be no more solo giveaways for XL sponsors, or group giveaways for Large sponsors. They are being replaced by this new system. I think the new giveaway structure will be more consistent in the value of the prizes being offered and sponsors can take part for $5, where the previous value of any prizes needed to be $25. It's cheaper for you, and I think the giveaways will be really popular! Small ads are unchanged.

Since I'm now on Facebook, I'll be promoting you by sharing posts there. There will also be a more thorough approach to all social media mentions, through Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram as well.

My advertising page has been updated with the latest statistics, and the ad shop explains each option in more detail. I've also updated my press section, finally, so you can see a selection of places where Kitty & Buck has been featured.

If you're interested in buying an ad for December (and beyond), I'm offering a discount to celebrate these big changes. Simply enter the code BOWIE (for changes, get it?) for a 20% discount on all ad spaces, including the solo giveaway spots. (If you'd like to opt-out of the giveaway and use this discount, email me for a special code!) There's just one XL spot left for this year, but you can always take advantage of the discount and purchase ahead for 2014. The discount is valid until the end of November.

As always, I'm interested in your thoughts. I know this is a big change, so let me hear what you think, good and bad. The most important thing to me is that the advertising options represent good value and gives you the results that you're after.

Cheesy question for end of post:
Are there other reasons that you advertise? What features do you look for in advertising your blog/shop? Let me know!
