Photo A Day #189 Great Ocean Road Part 6

After driving all day, we found a quaint little seaside town with quite a beautiful beach. We asked after accommodation in a few places, only to be turned away. Luckily, on the road in, we had noticed a farm with rooms available, so we drove in to find out if they would have us for the night. I'm so glad we did!

We had our own cottage with a lovely wood fire, and were free to wander the farm as we pleased. The paddock next to our little house had two sheep with 2 newborn lambs which were only 2 days old! They were so darling:)

We went for a walk before the sun set, there was apparently a mob of kangaroos on the property, but we couldn't find them. We did find this beautiful horse though, as well as more sheep, which were being guarded by an alpaca. I never knew this, but alpacas are used to guard sheep because they get really possessive over them. This alpaca gave us a what for when we got too close!

There was also a couple of emus, and we found out the farm used to be an emu farm, and these guys were some leftovers.

Around the back paddock I spotted this skull, it was so beautiful with tufts of grass growing from it and some nice mossy green over the bone. As the sun went down, we headed back to the cottage to warm ourselves by the fire.

Photo A Day #188 Charleston, SC

It's been such a busy time around here lately, you'd almost think my road trip was over with! As in, the one we took in the USA (not the Great Ocean Road drive I've been posting about too - how confusing). Anyway, it's not over yet, it's just heating up! I loved Charleston, the architecture, the Spanish Moss (I LOVE the Spanish Moss!), this city is vibrant and creative, I can tell! Can I talk more about the Spanish Moss? It's just so... magical...

We walked around town, which I think is always the best way to see a place. But we were also officially in 'the South' and this is the first place I really noticed that heat the South is famous for. I'm pretty much melted in the picture below, taken by a canon in The Battery.

I love the homes in this city, just oozing with character and draped in beautiful trees and flowers. this one even has a row of beautiful Sunflowers by the pavement. A-DOR-A-BLE.

I can't go past a good Art Deco themed building either, they are my weakness! Well, actually, perhaps after our hot sticky walk, the frozen yoghurt shop was my weakness. C snapped these pictures of me, while I was building my yoghurt empire-in-a-cup. I had no idea he was taking the photos and was caught in an unguarded moment grinning at the condiments. It's pretty embarrassing, but hilarious that I was so happy about the yoghurt, so I thought I'd share it with you :) You can tell I have no idea what the American 'crunchy' things are, but I'm pretty pleased by the fudge sauce.

The Great American Road-Trip, to be continued...

Be part of Kitty & Buck in October!

Let me tell you about October. My birthday is in October, which usually means I take an extra day off work, as a treat. This year, it's a 5 day weekend! wahoo! October is turning leaves in the north, blooming flowers in the south, both seasonal changes I adore. October has Halloween. Despite the fact it is 'not done' here, I will carve a pumpkin, get dressed up and listen to The Cramps.

In addition to all of this real-life fun, Kitty & Buck is co-hosting the Lovely Letters exchange with Modern Buttercup, which is going to be huge! (you can sign up here before Thursday 27th) There will be more outfit posts (I'm trying to make these a weekly feature), we also have some great giveaways, recipes, DIYs and more Photo 101 tips! I will also have another surprise, but I'm not going to spoil it here.

I am now offering a discount if you purchase the Large or Small ads in bulk, for a 3 month period. More details can be found here.

I'd love to have you on the team for October! If you're ready to purchase, just head to my sponsor page. If you have any questions at all, or just want to say hello, feel free to drop me an email.

Love, Kitty

Photo A Day #187 Chinese Gardens in the Rain

Do you have somewhere in your hometown that you've always meant to visit, but somehow never got around to stepping inside? I'm this way with the Chinese Gardens. Well, I was... For some reason or another, I just never got around to it before now. I'm glad I finally did though, it's really beautiful inside. Sure, it's not as vast as the Botanic Gardens (or Central Park!), so you never quite 'escape' the city, there are always high-rises looming overhead and the shrill screeching of sirens and car horns. It's quite a strange sensation, having one of your senses describe chaos and another serenity. It was raining on my visit, which made it all the more beautiful.
