Photo A Day #87 Sayings

Sometimes I wonder why people do the things they do... Do they set out to hurt others, or are they so self centered that it doesn't even occur to them that they are being nasty and hurtful? I don't have the answers to that, but I do wonder why I have relationships with people who act in ways that can only be construed as hurtful. There are a few sayings that I was taught as a child that I still try to live by.
  • Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
  • If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.
So I guess I'll leave it at that. Sorry to bring the mood down, but that's the best I can do today...

  1. I deal with nasty people just about every day and wonder the same thing. You just have to laugh it off and simply forget. You've got better and happier things to occupy your mind. Don't let the negatives take up all the space!

    1. Thanks Sarah, I appreciate your kind advice! I'm pretty used to dealing with jerks, but for some reason I'm always surprised when someone who I thought was a friend screws me over. Oh well. You are right, it's best not to dwell on these things and move forward. Otherwise you let them win.

  2. It's amazing how quickly people forget this particular bit of wisdom even though every single person learns it along with their ABCs.

  3. Hi Kitty,
Even though I don't know the details, it sounds like your feeling some of the same emotions i've been feeling recently.
Not long ago I went through a bit of a eureka moment. It's so simple but I turned to myself, gave myself a good talking to, and asked myself "if a particular person is making you feel/act a certain way which you don't like and this person is in your life because of your choosing...you have a choice and you can decide for them not to be so acive in your life!"
Once I decided this, it was like my mind process altered and this person doesn't effect me so much. Yes they still have their scenes where they prop up, I don't think I could cut them out completely (it's complicated!) but at least I know I'm more in control of it now.
Hope it gets better for you x

    1. Thanks Dibsie, it's always nice to know you're not alone with these feelings! Still working through the problems, but trying not to let myself dwell on it too much. Thanks for your good advice :)
